Freezing Pared Blanca

June 1st, 2009
Stout Project is soaked, dripping from the dew on the ground above the wall. It's too cold to climb there in the shade now anyways, even though I hopped on a 7a there that I love!

June 2nd, 2009Pablo and I go to climb some routes at Piedras Blancas, near Cerro Otto, before he returns to live and work in Mendoza for 4 months! There were some fun vertical routes and even some sport multi-pitch that we snuck in! Great views!

Remember the handwarmers we used to use in Dover all the time for hockey - amybe you can get handwarmers specifically shaped for climbing! maybe not. the light on the rocks is striking.

haha

yeah, it took me doing one lap on the route and freezing my hands on it to warm up the holds for the second run?!?! haha

i still think of the dude who got frostbite once playing hockey with warmers in the skates and gloves in place! there's no stopping the maine cold!

i've been trying to think of things that can further the sport of climbing, from gear alterations to weird additions. although gloves wouldn't work...you might be onto something with cold-climbing...!

love ya!
