Got There

Bienvenido a Ecuador! Alisa and I finally meet up in another world! And somehow, it's not too strange! We quickly get to planning. Hold on Australia. Get a grip, Thailand. Ecuador, don't worry, you've been patient and it's your turn...

Climb! Climb! No, use the stairs on the inside. OK. That's how we made it to the top of this church with a view that is worth the many stairs at the high elevation that Quito, Ecuador already sports like a trophy above our heads. We're gasping for air as we march up the roads! My eyes are blurry from so much open-eye time (See: 31 hours).

Of course, before we did this exercise we ate a late lunch at this quaint yellow-walled 4-seats-to-each-table restaurant for $1.50 each. That includes soup, entree, passionfruit drink (jugo de maracuyá, and one dessert split between the two of us since it was late in the day for that!

Photos taken from atop Basilica del Voto Nacional, a smaller carbon-copy of a church in France.

After this circus, we find ourselves in some drizzle. So we get a newspaper en espanol from an outdoor newspaper salesman and head to a fruit juice shop based on his recommendation. One papaya and one naranjilla. Neither of us had even heard of this small fruit and it ended up being better than the papaya! Tired, I suggest heading back to the hostel where we plan our conspiracies and travels for the coming times!

"LET GO OF YOURSELF!" suggests your landescaper, n8 from atop a church!

no arroz con pollo yet?!! how is the osprey treating you? jon and I just got back from our morning swim session - training hard so just in case we can't afford tickets we can just swim down to Patagonia. oh yeah all right.

con pollo? no. pero con otra carne, si!

the osprey is great so far! it is holding up well. although -- i haven't been carrying it everywhere with me; i've been leaving it locked in the hostel while we roam the streets of quito. we'll see how it performs and holds up to being tossed and carried everywhere. osprey packs are renowned for quality, and this is no exception, i expect.

no swimming here Yet but we look forward to natural springs and pools and whatnot! more to come on that! let me know how your triathalons and trainings go!
